Every woman, whether pregnant or not, wants to feel beautiful. For this reason, many women use various types of cosmetic services. One of the most popular is the hybrid manicure. However, many moms-to-be worry about whether the procedure is safe during pregnancy.

Hybrid in pregnancy-is it safe?

Nowadays, many women use cosmetic services including, among others. Manicure or hybrid pedicure. It is done with special varnishes cured in UV or LED lamps. They have not been proven to be harmful under normal use. The same is true during pregnancy. The lamp’s radiation does not affect the baby’s development or interfere with pregnancy. Moms-to-be can therefore safely perform hybrid manicures just as they did before pregnancy.

Hybrid in pregnancy- risk of infection

The only negative, but very dangerous, consequence of performing a hybrid during pregnancy is the risk of infection. It can occur as a result of the use of non-sterile instruments and the salon’s failure to maintain hygiene standards. The consequences of performing hybrid manicures with non-sterile equipment can result in hepatitis B or HIV infection. For this reason, always choose a salon that has the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and the items used should be packed in special sterile packaging. Even if you get a manicure from a friend outside the salon, it’s a good idea to have your own equipment, among other things. For cutting cuticles.

Hybrid in pregnancy- removal with acetone

Another question that many moms-to-be ask is whether it’s safe to remove hybrid hair with acetone-based liquids. For many years, acetone was thought to be dangerous to a child’s development. Nowadays, the rule is to avoid overexposure to this substance during pregnancy, but when washing off the varnish, the contact time and the amount is small and therefore harmless. However, many pregnant women are bothered by the characteristic smell of acetone. In such a situation, it is best to ask to remove the varnish with a milling machine. It is also important to properly ventilate and ventilate rooms where preparations with characteristic odors are used.

Hybrid pregnancy and childbirth

Throughout pregnancy, painting nails with hybrid nail polish is allowed and safe. However, what about the moment of delivery? On the websites of many maternity wards appears a notice asking for clean nail plates, and at least one nail not covered with polish. This is due to the need to monitor blood saturation especially during cesarean section. Lacquers, especially those that are highly pigmented and dark, can interfere with the pulse oximeter reading and mislead doctors who care about the condition of the woman in labor. However, this is not the rule in all facilities, so if a mother-to-be is particularly keen on having painted nails for delivery, she can ask before the solution what the rules are at the facility where she plans to give birth.
