Jacuzzis are a common attraction in most hotels, spas or tourist destinations. Using a hot tub is one of the best forms of relaxation for many people. It also has health-promoting properties. Is pregnancy the right time to use a hot tub? Are hot baths safe during pregnancy?

Jacuzzi – advantages

Among the advantages of a hot tub, in addition to the obvious relaxing and unwinding properties, the most frequently mentioned are:

  • Reducing back pain,
  • Getting rid of swelling,
  • muscle relaxation,
  • improving sleep quality,
  • Increase skin elasticity.

Jacuzzi during pregnancy-is it safe?

Jacuzzi is characterized by the fact that the water is much warmer than in a swimming pool or during a regular shower. The same is true of the increasingly popular thermal waters. Specialists, on the other hand, advise against hot baths during pregnancy. Such hot water can lead to hemorrhaging from the reproductive tract, for example. It also negatively affects the blood supply to the placenta. In extreme cases, premature labor can occur. The whirlpool itself, which is part of the Jacuzzi, is safe for pregnancy. The most important thing, however, is the right temperature of the water, not significantly exceeding body temperature (about 37 degrees). However, it is recommended to refrain from such baths for those moms-to-be who struggle with recurrent infections of the reproductive tract.

Jacuzzi during pregnancy or swimming pool-what to choose?

For pregnant women, visits to the pool are one of the best physical activities during these nine months. Nowadays, there are many different types of classes available specifically for moms-to-be. They engage most of the muscles, relax the body and reduce the swelling that occurs during pregnancy. However, it is worth asking the attending physician first if there are any contraindications to swimming. Jacuzzis can also be a form of pregnancy activity, but the water must not be hot. Women with an endangered pregnancy and those who have experienced spotting or bleeding from the genital tract should refrain from visiting swimming pools. Besides, it’s a good idea then to use vaginal probiotics, which will reduce the risk of possible infections, which can be encouraged by swimming in a pool or hot tub.
