Postpartum is a time when a woman's body returns to its pre-pregnancy state at its own pace. Many women who are post-Cesarean section complain about the pain that occurs during this period. Postpartum after c-section-how long does it take?

Postpartum lasts 6-8 weeks. With permitted physical activity. This is because during the postpartum period, activities such as lifting, physical training and sexual intercourse should be avoided. However, it is important for the mother-to-be to go for walks and avoid prolonged lying down, which can promote thrombotic complications.

Postpartum after cesarean section- pain complaints

The pain experienced after a cesarean section is more excruciating for most women than after a natural childbirth. This is due to the fact that it is an operation that requires interference with both the skin and subsequent layers, up to the incision and then suturing of the uterus. Therefore, in the first few days after a C-section, women require pain relief treatment. Some moms suffer from post-puncture syndrome manifested by severe headaches after anesthesia. Also painful for many women is the shrinking of the uterus.

Postpartum after cesarean section-care of the scar

Extremely important after a cesarean section is the careful care of the scar. The sutures used in skin suturing can be either insoluble or absorbable. In the case of the former, they need to be removed by a midwife 6 days after surgery. In turn, immediately after delivery, doctors pay attention to airing the wound, as well as not covering it with, for example, tight underwear. The wound can be washed freely with soap and water. However, do not take hot baths in the bathtub during the postpartum period. A shower is recommended for this period.

Many women think that postpartum feces occur only after childbirth by natural means. However, this is not true because they also occur after a cesarean section. They are the result of healing and regeneration of the endometrium. First they are blood-colored, after a few days brown, and after about 2 weeks light-white-gray. Postpartum time carries the risk of complications. Among those mentioned are. Thromboembolic risk, which increases as a result of a history of cesarean section. In addition, if postpartum feces become more intense than before or profuse and bloody, consult a gynecologist. The same is true if they take on an abnormal color or have a characteristic odor. You should go to the emergency room when you experience fever, wound swelling or severe pain in the lower abdominal area and shortness of breath. This is because they may be symptoms of infection or pulmonary embolism.
