The first pregnancy is an extremely exciting but often stressful time in life. After all, 9 months brings many puzzles and surprises. Check out what a mom-to-be should know in her first pregnancy.

First pregnancy- how to prepare?

Preparations for the first pregnancy look similar to those for subsequent pregnancies. The only difference is that the mother-to-be will be going through this time for the first time making a lot of things new to her. It is important that the partner also take an active part in the preparation for pregnancy, so that the woman will feel more secure in the new situation.

When preparing for your first pregnancy, be sure to visit your gynecologist and perform tests such as. cytology. It’s also worth asking your specialist about recommended supplementation. Most often, women should take folic acid before pregnancy. It is also advisable to check your vaccination history and any overdue injections before starting your efforts.

Many Parents-to-be reach for various types of guidebooks looking for tips and information on the course of pregnancy. Remember to choose trusted and reliable sources. It’s also important to have the right attitude and not to worry about the backup. Before the first pregnancy, if the partners are generally healthy, it is not recommended to perform semen tests, for example. Such diagnostics are performed only after usually a year of unsuccessful efforts.

First pregnancy- tips

A very important decision that one of the first decisions a mother-to-be makes is the choice of attending physician. It is best to go to a gynecologist we know or who inspires our confidence. If a pregnant woman has any doubts, she can change to a doctor to whom she can tell all her concerns about her first pregnancy and by whom she will be understood and listened to.

In the case of the first pregnancy, many people around the parents-to-be want to advise and help. Golden tips or grandma’s ways are probably extremely useful, but not everyone needs them. It is worthwhile to reach for scientific information, and to dispel doubts during visits to the gynecologist.

There are many lists on the Internet containing layette points and necessary items to buy for a newborn. However, it is worth taking a critical look at these lists and not buying everything recommended by other Parents. It is best to figure out among relatives and friends what has actually proven useful and what is completely unnecessary. This will save money and reduce, already large, pre-birth expenses. It is also a good idea to use clothes or layette items from the children of our relatives.

First pregnancy-before delivery

For the first pregnancy as well as subsequent pregnancies, Parents are recommended to take advantage of birthing school classes. For the couple expecting their first child, it will provide all the necessary information related to the end of pregnancy, childbirth and the basics of newborn care, and Parents expecting another baby will refresh and recall familiar information. Thanks to classes at a birthing school or consultation with a midwife, parents are better prepared for the time of childbirth, which often makes them less anxious and apprehensive about it.

Before the birth, it is also a good idea to prepare a birth plan and discuss it, if possible, with the midwife and the person who will accompany us to the delivery room. The plan should be well thought out and include all the points the mom-to-be cares about.

To feel more secure and safe, many couples choose to visit the maternity ward and delivery room where they plan to give birth. A lot of hospitals in Poland offer the option for prospective Parents to visit and get acquainted with the ward.

Not everyone realizes that only 5% of women give birth at term. For this reason, it is a good idea to prepare the hospital and delivery bag in advance, so that everything will be ready in case the labor begins which will certainly save Parents unnecessary stress.
