During pregnancy, many women develop a greater craving for pickles or mushrooms in vinegar. However, is it safe for the course of pregnancy to consume them? Is it possible to drink vinegar during pregnancy without fear?

Vinegar-what properties does it have?

Vinegar is a product that has been known and used in both cooking and folk medicine for years. It has antiseptic and antibacterial properties, has a positive effect on the cardiovascular system due to its content, among other things. flavonoids and supports weight loss and digestive processes. For these reasons, it is a popular ingredient used in most Polish homes. Moreover, it has also found applications in cleaning and laundry. It is successfully used as a towel softener when washing in the washing machine, and diluted it cleans equipment such as dishwashers.  You can also use vinegar to clean windows.

Vinegar in pregnancy-is it safe?

There are no clear reports that vinegar during pregnancy carries negative consequences. For many moms-to-be, however, the smell of vinegar itself acts as an irritant, especially during the first trimester of pregnancy. However, if the smell is not a problem, you can consume products with vinegar, of course, in reasonable quantities. Its high concentration can irritate the gastric mucosa or aggravate heartburn, which often occurs in pregnancy.

Apple cider vinegar in pregnancy
