What happens to the breasts in the second and third trimester of pregnancy?

Visual changes in the breasts begin to be visible only in the second trimester. This is because the time of slow preparation for milk production begins. If you are dreaming of bigger breasts, this period is ideal for changing your underwear. Changes in the hormonal economy will make them significantly larger and heavier. The weight of the breasts will increase from 0.5 to as much as 1.5 kilograms, compared to the state before pregnancy.Visible changes also occur in the nipples during pregnancy, or more precisely, their color. This is due to the action of hormones, which stimulate pigment cells and make the nipples in pregnancy darken or appear spots on them, as on the whole breasts. The skin around the nipples may also take on a different color.

Secretions may leak from the breasts during pregnancy. It is usually noticeable in the last trimester of pregnancy, just before delivery. The secretion is the so-called. Colostrum – a thick liquid with a yellow color. This is the first milk you can feed with. Colostrum contains valuable nutrients that stimulate the immune system. Feeding it to your child can strengthen his immunity. Remember that colostrum should not have a bloody color. If you notice them, be sure to tell your health care provider. 

Stretch marks on breasts during pregnancy

Brown, red or blue lines may appear on the breasts during pregnancy. These are so-called pregnancy stretch marks, which are the result of unexpected stretching of the skin, specifically changes in the connective tissue. They can’t be eliminated completely, but you can reduce their visibility with moisturizing creams or stretch mark products for pregnant women. Skin moisturizers and soothers will also come in handy after the baby is born, when you start breastfeeding. Stretch marks will fade over time and are hardly noticeable to the naked eye, but they can cause complexes, so it is better to take care of the skin as soon as they appear.
