Hair during pregnancy- does it fall out?

Most moms-to-be would like a clear answer to the question of what the condition of hair is during pregnancy. However, this is not possible. Every case is different, and just as with the symptoms of pregnancy, the condition of the hair depends on the individual woman. It is recognized, however, that in most pregnant women the hair gains shine and becomes stronger, while after delivery it falls out by the handful. However, this is not the rule. The reason for this situation is the hormonal storm that is taking place in the body of the mother-to-be. In some ladies, hair during pregnancy begins to frizz and curl, while in others it is the opposite, thin, straight and flat.

Hair during pregnancy- coloring

The myth of coloring hair during pregnancy is repeated by our grandmothers and mothers. Nowadays, however, hair dyes very rarely contain harmful ammonia. So it is best to choose a salon that uses this type of paint. The myth about the ban on coloring or bleaching hair during pregnancy stemmed from the fact that inhaling ammonia in excess was harmful. Nowadays, there are more and more paints that are anti-allergenic and tailored to women who are, for example, sensitive to pungent odors. If the smell of hair dye nevertheless bothers you, it is worth postponing your visit to the hairdresser on the 2nd. trimester, when sensitivity to tastes or odors will probably no longer be so bothersome.

Pregnant hair- can it be straightened?

Most hair care treatments are safe during pregnancy. However, choose products suitable for pregnant women, with neutral fragrances and as few chemical compositions as possible. The same is true for curling or straightening hair. It is safe during pregnancy, but be aware of the negative effects of high heat on the condition of our hair. However, it is worth avoiding keratin straightening, during which the mother-to-be may be exposed to ammonia inhalation. This is because these products, in addition to keratin, contain formaldehyde.
