Thaddeus was born after an unusually long, 24-hour delivery. Unfortunately, there is a possibility that perinatal hypoxia occurred during such a long labor, which caused the boy's encephalopathy.

Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy – what is this disease?

Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy is a complex syndrome of neurological disorders that leads to loss of motor and cognitive functions.
Sometimes it is also accompanied by other neurological disorders.
Many cases of encephalopathy have their origin in hypoxia, which occurs most often in the perinatal period.
Symptoms of hypoxia do not always appear immediately after birth – sometimes they appear after several weeks or months.
Unambiguous diagnosis of the effects of hypoxia is difficult, but the consequences can be very serious, including encephalopathy, cerebral palsy, hearing and vision damage and mental retardation.

What does Tadzio’s story look like?

There were no problems during the pregnancy with Tadzio, but during the delivery, which lasted for 24 hours, complications arose.
It is likely that the long labor resulted in perinatal hypoxia, which led to the development of encephalopathy in the boy.
As an infant, Tadzio had reduced muscle tone and showed no signs of physical development, such as lifting up, turning around, or following objects with his eyes.
This greatly disturbed his Parents.
About six months later, the boy began to be diagnosed and was eventually given a diagnosis of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy of the left hemisphere of the brain.

Tadeusz’s mother, Mrs. Magda, learned about stem cell therapy from her son’s therapist, who had seen the positive effects of the therapy in her other patient.
Ms. Magda began searching for information on cell therapy and found a center in Lublin that provided stem cell therapy.
After a thorough examination, Tadeusz was qualified for the therapy.

Effects of stem cell therapy

After the first stem cell therapy, which Tadeusz received in June 2020, a significant increase in his motor and cognitive abilities was noticed.
The boy began to reach for objects on his own, something he was previously unable to do.
In addition, his speech has significantly improved – it was virtually non-existent before.
The therapy also influenced the boy’s motor development – he began to bend his knees, put foot after foot, and attempt to jump and run on bent legs.

“In Tadzio’s case, the effects of the therapy consisted in improved cognitive functions, better communication, but also improved motor or motor functions.
Improved cognitive functions, better contact with the environment and with the therapist translated into improved rehabilitation of the boy, and thus improved overall functioning.
” says Dr. n. med. Magdalena Chrościńska-Krawczyk, who led the stem cell therapies for Tadeusz.

At the moment, Tadeusz is a child with moderate disabilities, which according to his mother, Ms. Magda, is also due to stem cell therapy.
